Biography

From the CD Booklet " An Spailpin Fanach "

Sean ac Dhonncha was born in 1919 in An Aird Thiar, Carna. A primary school teacher, he taught in each of the four provinces of Ireland- including twenty five years in Ahascragh, where he now lives.
Long acknowledged as one of Ireland's finest traditional singers, Sean's versatile and extensive range of songs in both Irish and English have given pleasure to entranced listeners for many years. It is hoped that this CD will now bring his singing to an even wider audience.

Featuring such classics as Liam O'Raghallaigh, Una Bhan, and An Caisdeach Ban in Irish, and A Stor mo Chroi, Cathal Brugha and John Mitchell in English, this is sure to become one of the most cherished collections of traditional songs to date, from a true, loyal and generous master.
