Biography

The Music Makars - Note courtesy of the Artists site, 2007)

(A new site is in development).

The Music Makars are musicians dedicated to the performance of Scottish dance music.
Inspired by the traditional fiddle and accordion dance bands of Scotland, the Makars have established a world-wide reputation in Scottish dance circles for bringing their own arrangements to this evocative and transformative music. Their first compact disc was released in 1995.
The Music Makars include Etienne Ozorak on piano accordion, Fred Mamula on violin, Jack Lindberg on Irish flute, banjo and whistle, Elizabeth Weiss Ozorak on piano and Nicholas Ozorak on bass. The group is creating a unique sound, blending the traditional, rock solid, tempo-conscious requirements for Scottish dance with the high octane feel of American fiddle music.
Over the years, our musical journeys have taken us to some of the finest ballrooms across the US and Scotland. Individually, we have also performed in Alaska, South Africa, Slovakia and Austria.
