Biography

From the CD Booklet "Pipers of Distinction "

This young man was born in Zurich, Switzerland some 28 years ago of American parents. After six months the family moved back to the United States and he has spent most of his life in Houston, Texas. His calling to piping was simple, at St Thomas Episcopal School there was a band and young Mike decided to join the ranks.

With well known pipers like Donald Shaw Ramsay, John M,acFadyen, and latterly James MacIntosh, teaching, and living in America, it did not take Mike long to come through as an outstanding player, and his dedication and professionalism has made him argueably the finest exponentthat the States has produced.

He has proved in Piobaireachd, by winning both Argyllshire and Northern meeting Gold Medals, the Dunvegan Medal, and many awards in America and Canada, that he ranks with the best and adding the Glenfiddich Invitational March/Strathspey/Reel shows he is a most accomplished player all round. He is now the director/teacher at St Thomas Episcopal School for piping, and has carried out seminars and teaching workshops in America and Canada.
