Leo McCann from Benburb, Co Tyrone, in the north of Ireland is a well known button box and tin whistle player in the traditional music world.

Leo has been based in Scotland for over ten years and has performed in many groups such as Drop The Box, Corner House, Iron Horse and is now a member of Malinky, the fast rising stars of the Scottish and international music scene.

Leo has recorded on over twenty albums with acts as diverse as renowned Gaelic singer Ishbel MacAskill, demon fiddlers Hardie & Marwick, Malinky, John Morran (Deaf Shepherd), country singer Scott MacDonald and on the acclaimed CD series The Complete Songs of Robert Burns. He has recently recorded with American bluegrass legends Ben Winship and Tim O' Brien.

In addition to performing with Malinky, Leo also performs with his own trio, solo, and performs in a unique collaboration with acclaimed Highland poet Aidan McEoin and DJ Dolphin Boy. Leo also released his debut album If Anyone Can! in 2000 to widespread critical acclaim.

Leo is well recognised as a fine composer and his tunes have recently been recorded by artists such as Blazin' Fiddles, Wolfstone and Harem Scarem.

He is married to Linda, a talented artist and model maker, well known for contemporary portrayals of the traditional music scene.
