Biography

From the Artist's My Space Page 2010.

Gillian Frame comes from the Isle of Arran on the West Coast of Scotland, where she was introduced to traditional Scots and Irish music at an early age. In January 2001 Gillian was the inaugral winner of the Young Scottish Traditional Musician Award. Since then she has been rapidly gaining experience in all areas of traditional music, using her talents as fiddle player and singer in both performing, recording and teaching contexts, and in 2002 graduated from The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with BA (Scottish Music) Hons degree. As a composer Gillian has been involved in the prestigious Distil Project and in 2002 was commissioned to write a New Voices piece "Kinship Theory", for the Celtic Connections Festival. In 2006 she completed a CD Rom with Kerry box player Padraig O'Neill, made up entirely of their own compositions. Her tunes and arrangements can also be heard on recordings by Back of the Moon, The Bar Room Mountaineers and Queen Anne's Revenge. She is currently touring with Findlay Napier and the Bar Room Mountaineers... debut album due out later this year... and working as Development Officer for Glasgow Fiddle Workshop alongside her regular teaching commitments.
