Brief Biography (Courtesy of the Artists site, 2007).
Cruinniú were formed in 2005 to travel to the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, in France. The name Cruinniú means Gathering and that’s essentially what the band is, a gathering of friends from different parts of Ireland.
Following the overwhelming positive reaction received in Lorient, the decision to stay performing together was made. When asked to perform at the Corofin Traditional Festival in 2006, the group decided this would be the perfect opportunity to make a recording of the band. The concert was recorded live on the night. The CD is the result of that recording - we hope that it encapsulates some of the craic and enjoyment that was had on the night.
