First Hearing:
Let's just start with an admission - we don't speak Gaelic, Irish or Scottish.
Now let's note that everything about this release is in Irish Gaelic so we don't know fully just what it's about.
It is, on this first track, unaccompanied song (as is quite usual in the tradition). A quick check through some of the other tracks tells us that it is the same singer, Maire Ni Ceocain Ui Crualaoi.
As she sounds fairly old we deduce that this may be a valid work of Gaelic song with strong historic value.
Certainly one for true Gaelic scholars, fans of sean-nos and, of course, for traditionalists who like to dig that wee bit deeper into the archive of traditional song.
