HOT off the Press, this morning (Tuesday 21 Oct.) at 10.00 am. Donald Shaw, the Artistic Director when he's not out working with Capercaillie or wearing another of his musical hats, presented the acts for the 2009 'CelticFest' being held, as ever, in Glasgow between 15th January and 1st February.
The complete list announced is here but there was a hint given that 'for contractual reasons' another couple of major acts have still to be announced. He mentioned this just after starting to talk about American artists and also Bob Dylan's love of Robert Burns.
2009 is the 250th Anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns so the programme slants strongly in that direction. 2009 is also "Homecoming Scotland", an initiative to encourage Scots around the World to revisit their homeland.
Glasgow has also been given the UNESCO "City of Music" status. Soon there will be banjo and bagpipe players on every corner. Can't wait!!!
Here is your 'guide to Celtic Connections 2009'
This list is also available at www.allcelticmusic.com/celticconnections.html and will be updated with changes and further annoucements. You can also link through to additional information on the artists.
You can buy tickets from the Celtic Connections website: www.celticconnections.com.
See you there!
