“The Hidden Gem” is Stevie Lawrence’s debut solo recording on the Big Sky label and is a follow up to his first solo album, “Standing Alone” , released by KRL in 2002.
Stevie’s association with Big Sky dates back to 2000, when studio and label Director Tom Roseburgh first started the business in Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders.
Since then Stevie has played on and produced many of the products that have been recorded and released by Big Sky and this solid working relationship continues to flourish today.
While “Standing Alone” was a solo album in the true sense in that all instrumentation was played by Stevie, this release features contributions from many of the musicians that Stevie has worked with during an active 20 year career as Musician, Producer, Arranger and Audio Engineer.
The album features many of Stevie’s own compositions and track highlights include
Track 1: The Hidden Gem
Track 2: Cupid’s Measles / Nessie The Elephant
Track 6: Brigside
Big Sky Studios have been established at Tweedbank near Melrose in the Scottish Borders for 5 years. Tom Roseburgh the owner and Senior Sound Engineer has been instrumental in building the studio from a small operation into one of the most respected and technically innovative recording houses in Scotland.
He has however not lost the personal touch that is his hallmark and prospective clients receive the same professional treatment whether a recording novice or an established veteran of the industry.
As well as running the recording studio Tom finds time to play occasional keyboards with Real Time, a popular Folk Band, mostly on their foreign gigs.
Big Sky has recently moved into multimedia production and now has several educational, promotional and historical titles in their portfolio. This area of multi-media marketing and the provision of commercial voice-over and sound bytes are being expanded.
The in-house Big Sky Label continues to grow and this release is another addition to an ever developing and exciting catalogue.
