Bagatelle – One of Ireland’s Supergroups
Bagatelle begun their career late in 1978, their first single “Summer in Dublin” went on to become an overnight classic and catapulted them to international fame. Numerous hits followed including “Trump Card”, “Second Violin” and “Love Is The Reason” earning Bagatelle a historic place in Irish Rock alongside U2, Thin Lizzy and Van Morrison.
The 25th Anniversary Collection brings together all their hits, including three previously unreleased tracks – “Mr. Harley, Mr. Davidson & Me”, “Galway” and “Tipperary, It’s a long Way”. Bagatelles’ style incorporates a melodic rock sound with a strong lyric content, and they’ve captured a slice of classic rock history which still appeals to all ages.
Bagatelle have shared stages over the years with such musical legends as Bob Marley, U2, Boomtown Rats, Don MacLean, Christy Moore, they also appeared in the famous “Self Aid” concert in the mid 80s and sold out concerts in the R.D.S.
2004 sees the three original members, Liam Reilly, Ken Doyle and John O’Brien take to the stage, touring Ireland, U.K., Europe, U.S.A., United Emirates and Australia, playing to over half a million people on their travels. 2004 also saw them awarded No. 3 Best Irish Song Ever with “Summer In Dublin” - as voted by the people of Ireland in a poll held by the Star Newspaper.

It is estimated they will play to over half a million people on their travels. Also, planned for the 25th anniversary year are, 2 albums, a book and a video.
The bands current success is the continuation of a career which started in August 1978 and which saw the band playing at full steam in the United States and Canada, England and Ireland, creating several gold and platinum albums and singles along the way.
The band, who brought us such memorable hits throughout the years as: "Summer in Dublin", "Second Violin", "Love is the Reason" and "Leeson Street Lady" are still playing to packed houses, with record sell out crowds at nearly every live performance over the past few years. "Summer in Dublin" was a classic overnight success when it was first released in 1978, and captured the heart of the nation. It was followed by a string of hits which have earned Bagatelle a historic place in Irish rock alongside US, Thin Lizzy, Cranberries, Van Morrison etc. Bono himself has commented on the impact that Bagatelle had on U2 in the early days of their career.
Bagatelle has shared stages with artists such as Bob Marley, Don McClean, Jose Feliciano and many, many more. They have had albums produced by Phil Coulter and the late great Gus Dudgeon, who produced for David Bowie and Elton John etc. They alos appeared on the now famous concert "Self Aid" in the mid '80's with U2 and Van Morrison and gave sell out concerts of their own in the R.D.S.
When the original Bagatelle got together to re-form the band in 1992, Polygram, now Universal, their record label decided to release "The Best of Bagatelle and Liam Reilly" to coincide with the re-uniting of the band, and followed this with Bagatelle Gold.
Incorporating a melodic rock sound with a strong lyric content, Bagatelle have captured a slice of classic rock history which still appeals to the ever expanding army of fans, new and old.
